150 sq.m apartment with small enclosed garden in Tomino, Cap Corse, Haute Corse, overlooking Macinaggio.
The villa was planned and designed to take advantage of its spectacular position. It is built on 3 levels. The top level is a private apartment. The two bottom floors are the apartment we let out. There are beautiful views over the Tyrrhenean Sea and the Mediterranean islands of Elba and Capraia; the yachting marina of Macinaggio directly below and the yachts moored in the bays around about; and of the wild Cap Corse headlands which is a French National Reserve.
The villa sleeps 10 comfortably in real beds. There are 2 very large double bedrooms both with a double bed and one single bed, one has a bathroom en suite. The kitchen is big and airy, with long windows that open out on two sides to the beautiful views, on the third side there are patio doors which lead onto a very sheltered smaller patio. The kitchen has a central island with cupboards, dishwasher, cooker and oven, double sink and work surface. The patio is the family breakfast room and an extension of the kitchen; a sunny, private, sheltered space. Leading onto this patio is also one of the living rooms which has sofas and a TV; the second living room has sofas, a dining room table and the ping pong table where the children can play. There is a bathroom on each floor(2), and a washing machine on the lower floor. There is a small fenced in garden for young children.
Tomino is a small village on a hill overlooking Macinaggio. It is cool and quiet, and ideal for children who can play safely in the squares and green areas as there is very little traffic and no other dangers. There are also a lot of young children playing in the village during the summer months Macinaggio, and the beaches, is a 5 minute drive down the hill. Macinaggio is very lively, with its waterside bars, restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. This is the place to go when one feels like a bit of fun. It has quite a few good restaurants which all have open air eating. There is a sailing and windsurfing school in Macinaggio, and also a deep sea diving school. One can hire sailing boats, speed boats or kayaks here too and explore the bays around the Cap. There is also a magnificent walking trail around the coast, which is not strenuous.
Tomino is a 40 minute drive from Bastia. Bastia is the capital of Haute Corse, a beautiful, elegant and interesting city with its medieval citadel and picturesque old port. Bastia also has a modern port where the ferries arrive, and an airport. The drive from Bastia to Macinaggio is easy and spectacular; a winding road that snakes its way along the magnificent coast. It is very hard to believe that one is in our lovely but crowded Europe when one is on Cap Corse.
