My home is at the top of one of five beautiful hilltop Medieval villages called Tourrettes. The view is absolutely fantastic and the house itself is extremely light and airy. There is a small garden with a fish pond.
The small double guest bedroom is comfortable, and offers an en-suite shower room with small bath.
This is the ideal spot from which to explore the hinterland of the Cote d'Azur, with places such as Nice (50kms), Grasse (perfume centre of the World) (25kms) and Monte Carlo all but a simple drive away. However, if you want peace and quiet there is plenty of that too. For those who wish to walk and climb, France's most breathtaking Gorges du Verdon are also close by. In the winter, if you rise early enough there is skiing within 1 hour's drive away, snow allowing! Closer to me there is the internationally known gliding centre in Fayence, 10mns by car, the world famous Terre Blanch golf course, 15mns drive and a very large man-made lake (20mns) offering a variety of water sports and acitivies, plus several lovely and secluded beaches and restaurants around it's shores.
This area is also well known for it's wines, so for those who wish to do nothing other than have a gastronomic holiday, this is also the holiday spot for you. There are many vineyards close by all offering wine tasting and wine boutiques, several excellent restaurants, even a Michelin starred restaurant and many interesting shops. Each of the 5 villages has its own Saturday and weekday markets depending on the season. Tourrettes, where I live , has it's own Jazz festival in July/August and Seillans, a nearby village, has a summer classical music season.
There are daily and hourly buses to and from Nice airport, Cannes and Grasse.
