Here are 3 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting:
1 - Although the setting is private we live in a residential area, so NO loud PARTIES are permitted in our home at all times during your stay.
2 - Our HOME IS OVER 80 YEARS OLD. Although we put a lot of time, love and effort to maintain it some aspects are charming but from another era. The bathroom, for example, features an open shower stall with room for one person only. You must step over a threshold to enter the shower. Unlike most desert homes our house has original hardwood floors which may squeak as you walk about the house. Our natural gas stove is as old as the house and requires a match to light the top burners for cooking. (NO PILOT LIGHT!!) Actually, most Guests found these features of the property entirely charming.
3 - Commercial Shoots: anything other than guests taking a few photos themselves for personnel use to share with immediate family and friends constitutes a commercial shoot and a license permit must be purchased along with a county permit, for any reproduction, posting, prints, advertising, or film is not allowed with out purchasing permits. We do allow requests for COMMERCIAL FILMING/PHOTOGRAPHY at a flat rate of $500.00 per day on top of the nightly rate if you wish to stay on the property. Cactus Adobe has a unique charm about it that you notice immediately as you pull into the driveway. Over the garage, you will see the custom designed "TILE" sign above the wooden doors. As you enter the property through the metal side gate with tree branch handle, you're greeted by the homeowner's collection of desert art and an abundance of cacti.
Here we use the back door as our main door that brings you into the sun porch at the back of the house. Straight ahead is the 2nd bedroom that comfortably sleeps two on the two twin beds. Take a step up into the galley kitchen and admire the color tiled countertops amidst the vintage stove and refrigerator.
Just beyond the kitchen, you'll find the open living and dining room spread out over the original wood floors. You can lose yourself in one of the many books from the homeowner's collection. And tucked away in the corner you will find a cable connected television should you need something to entertain you after a long day of exploring the desert. The charm continues as you turn left into the hallway that leads to the tiled bathroom and the master bedroom.
Looking to enjoy the outdoors while on vacation? Outside on the back patio, you'll find a BBQ for grilling, lounge chairs and an outdoor fireplace to cozy up to while enjoying the star-studded skies above.
