Situated in the locality of Fonte Uga, Fiumelatte within a gated 21st century residence which stands on the former site of Villa Capoana (a notable villa from 1605 which was built for the Duke of Mount Marciano and was home to noble families for many generations), a unique holiday stay awaits! The construction of the modern residence sympathetically restored the monumental fountain and garden area of the villa, to retain the rich heritage and prestige of the site.

Inside, the modern apartment features bleached-oak parquet floor and soft painted suede finish walls. It is fitted with modern appliances and a fully-fitted kitchen which allows you to cook your favourite Italian dishes whilst away, using fresh herbs available in the garden area. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which has a 'built–in' tiled bath tub, big enough for two, letting you relax together in style. The two inviting double bedrooms both enjoy flat screen HD TVs and enjoy direct access through French doors to the guests’ spacious sunny terrace. There is also a flat screen HD TV with Sky movie channels and DVD player to the living area which is framed by two large sliding glass doors to access the spectacular terrace, giving picture-postcard views of the lake throughout the apartment and creating a superb entertaining area.

You can enjoy the heat of the sun on this spacious front terrace while preparing a barbeque on the outdoor grill, or stay cool under the shade of cypress trees, in the beautiful paved garden behind.

A special feature of this apartment is that it has direct access to the monumental fountain. You can sit there in the private garden sipping wine, or dining in the shade of the cypress and palm trees whilst watching the water run through the fountain down to the lake, only a few meters below.

The apartment has an underfloor heating system which keeps it warm during the colder season. It also has a private garage with automatic remote-control doors. The property is accessed by elevator with private keys.

This apartment is connected by (lockable) internal doors to Della Fontana Loft apartment. The two apartments can be rented together to create a unique 4- bathroom luxury complex sleeping up to 12.

The apartment is in the village of Fiumelatte, part of the beautiful town of Varenna, just 1 km away on the Eastern shore of Lake Como. The property has been designed to take full advantage of the lakes premier view of the 'Golden Triangle' (Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna). Fiumelatte is a charming village and offers a train station nearby with Milan links (via Lecco).

Varenna is home to Italy's shortest river, the Fiumelatte. Only 250 meters long it rushes, frothy and milky-white (hence the name) down the rock face and crashes into the lake from the end of March to the end of October each year. And then it stops - just like that. Leonardo da Vinci climbed down to find out where the water came from (without success!), as recorded in his Codice Atlantico notebook.

The two famed villas of Villa Cipressi, with its terraced gardens cascading down to the shores & Villa Monastero, a true botanical showcase are located nearby.

With the mild climate & abundant sunshine & warmth right into the evening olive & cypress trees abound as well as

many other varieties of lush, tropical plants, typical of the lake, creating a paradise perfect for getaways!

Dear Daniela, Thank you for your detailed review. We are very sorry to read that you have had such a bad time on Lake Como. You have reached out to us a lot and we have received all your emails and tried to help as much as we could. Not only to help with the wifi, but with all the other issues too. The apartment is not new and so is indeed a little worn. We offered you a 30% refund for your 3 night stay which you refused. Then you tried to dispute the charges with your credit card company, but they also refused. We truly tried everything in our power to help and we are really sorry if it felt like we did not.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
