Vavla village is a traditional gem, tucked away in the peaceful countryside in the foothills of the surrounding mountain range. Everything from the fresh air and the chirping of the birds to the old stones that form the historic walls of the houses exude nature, peace, and traditions.
Vavla Rustic Retreat is a 19th-century family-owned home that has been passed down through the generations. One step inside will confirm the authenticity of its history, from the various antique tools and household items to the old family photographs that have all been meticulously displayed throughout the house.
The architecture of the home is unique to the region, in that all rooms surround a common, internal courtyard, creating the utmost privacy for our guests. The courtyard is surrounded by five apartments, including: 2 studios, 2 one-bedrooms, and 1 two-bedroom, and also boasts the traditional “fournos”, which is the traditional outdoor oven, as well as a fire pit for group gatherings in the courtyard on those slightly chilly evenings.
While every care has been taken during the renovation process to maintain the authentic feel of this traditional home, modern comforts and amenities have not been spared. Each apartment is fitted with a fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette, private bathrooms, flat-screen TV and satellite, and free Wi-fi.
Within the surrounding area of Vavla, one can find many things to do and see: from churches and monasteries to cultural museums and Neolithic settlements, and even a winery and a delectable shop for jams and chutneys. Vavla truly is at the heart of Cyprus heritage and culture!
We are also proud to share that, in keeping with our eco-conscious efforts, in February 2014 we were the first of our type of accommodation in Cyprus to be awarded the Green Key eco-award, so all of our guests can rest assured that we care about our environment as much as we care about them!
