Casa Tranquila is our beautiful country house in the heart of Andalusia, surrounded by nature and enjoying southern Spain’s perfect climate, and only a 20 minute drive from Europe’s best beaches.

We are very proud to be 100% self-sufficient, our sustainable energy systems are eco-friendly, and we also donate a portion of every rental income to Greenpeace to support them in their incredible efforts to protect the planet :)

Welcome to Casa Tranquila, the perfect holiday home for total relaxation… Nestled into the Andalusian countryside, the house is surrounded by lush farmland and rolling hills for perfect tranquility, yet is situated within easy reach of idyllic white villages, historical cities, important sightseeing spots, and some of Europe’s best beaches.

The house has been fully restored in its original style, and of course we have added all the usual mod-cons plus some extras to keep you comfortable such as underfloor heating, heat isolated roof and windows, fully equipped kitchen, LED TV, etc.

Long leisurely walks up the nature-protected hill behind our house give you a magnificent view over the farmland and down to the nearest village (Cantarranas 3km), and across the forest towards the Alcornocales National Park.

Whether you prefer to laze around the pool, take a long walk or bike ride, go surfing at one of Spain's most consistent spots, or play golf on nearby world class golf courses (Montenmedio is the nearest), we think you will find our house ideal.

The Situation:

We are between two of Andalucia's most famous white villages, Vejer de la Frontera and Medina Sidonia, which are both steeped in history and offer great sightseeing, local bars and restaurants.

El Palmar, the Costa de la Luz’s most popular surf spot, is the nearest beach with a cool surfy vibe. Along with the neighbouring villages of Conil and Caños de Meca, they offer great seafood restaurants, lots of live entertainment, and cool beach bars.

The situation is ideal for day trip and excursions: to the west, Cadiz, Europe's oldest city, and Jerez with its famous sherry Bodegas and Royal Equestrian School, and to the west you can visit Tarifa, famous for its kitesurfing and windsurfing and probably one of the most picturesque and vibrant little towns along the coast. Gibraltar is close by for some Duty Free shopping, and see the famous apes on top of the Rock, and all within a one hour’s drive from the house.

The house is located in the beautiful countryside between Vejer and Medina-Sidonia, and although it is secluded enough to make you feel like you’re away from the world, you are actually only 10mn away from these two famous white towns, and all the services they provide in terms of large supermarkets, farmacies, shopping, great restaurants, etc.

The house sits among a very small community of rural properties, owned by a variety of British, Dutch and other expats, and also our lovely local farmer friends, who all keep an eye out for each other, without encroaching on each other’s privacy.

The Finca:

Originally three individual farmhouses, our Finca has been lovingly restored and the three houses joined together to create one large property. The house consists of two barns connected by a rebuilt stone ruin which today forms the salon.

The upper area one has a very large fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge area with a large open fire place, and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

The large salon with its floor-to-ceiling glass doors gives you a fantastic view onto the pool and garden. The glass doors can be opened to bring the outside in.

The lower area has a very decadent 35m2 main bathroom, a second double bedroom, and the master bedroom, with its own en-suite bathroom and French doors opening up to the back garden.

It has been a true labour of love to bring this “Grand Design” to life, we are completely “off-grid”, with our water coming from a choice of two wells, our electricity and hot water from our extensive solar system, all of which provides comfortable accommodation for up to 8 people with all usual amenities, including swimming pool, irrigation system, under-floor heating, fast internet, and a fully equipped kitchen.

Building our dream house virtually from the ground up, with all the comfort features and usability we wanted was certainly a massive challenge, but to do this while remaining completely self-sufficient has also brought us a huge sense of pride.

The house is designed to run as efficiently and automatically as possible, but it must be appreciated that our systems are not as straightforward as those in a conventional house, and although plentiful, our resources are not infinite, we therefore ask that our guests enjoy our house freely, but also treat it with the consideration and sympathy required to run such a house with sustainability.

Why can't I call Pierre (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Pierre (the owner) a message.

If Pierre (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
