Description from owner

Description

The gite is in the grounds of our holiday home. The area around is fairly flat and makes for lovely walking or cycling and in the barn there are some old bicycles for guests to use.

Positioned midway between Tours and Angers this makes an excellent base for sight-seeing in the area or for house hunting.

The property is situated about 2 miles from the town of Vernantes that has an excellent restaurant, 2 bakeries, butcher and a small grocery. A mile further is a supermarket that also sells fuel. This is now open on Sunday mornings up to 12.30. Opposite our house is a farm with a small farm shop which opens on Fridays and by appointment the rest of the week. The lovely town of Saumur on the Loire River is about 12 miles south of us and that has a train station from which you can take a TGV to Paris.

Further details

I am happy to arrange long lets and have previously had tenants who stayed for months while house-hunting and were very comfortable. Also others who just wanted a few days while they sorted out paperwork for their purchase. As ferries etc. are cheaper mid-week I do not stipulate Saturday to Saturday but am happy to fit in around visitors needs. We have a Travel Club number with Brittany Ferries that gives discount on crossings with them which you are free to use.

I’m sorry but we can’t have dogs at the gîte.

Further details indoors

The gite has one bedroom, shower room and an open plan kitchen/living/dining room. There is a little television for watching DVDs, DVD player and there is a small selection of DVDs, also a CD player, books and games. The kitchen has fridge, full oven, hob and microwave. There is a utility room adjoining with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. The gite is heated by electric wall heaters which keep it very cosy.

Further details outdoors

Our garden is about three quarters of an acre and there are tables and chairs, some large trees for shade and a large courtyard for parking.

“A good place to stay if you want a quiet and relaxing holiday”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2013

We wanted an "away from it all" holiday and the gite provided us with that. The main chateaux of the Loire Valley were all nearby and the nearest village (Vernantes) had a very nice boulangerie with a fine selection of local breads and cakes etc. We recommend if you want to chill out and visit the sights of the Loire in a relaxing way. Don't forget the many local vineyards and wines.

“Perfect hideout for two”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2012

The gite is perfect sized for two. The area around the gite is quiet, and the neighbouring lanes suitable for short walks. Saumur, with a diversity of activities is within easy reach. We done wine tasting, visited castles, caves and zoo. The tank museum was the best we have ever seen. We also managed to visit 'Le Cadre Noir', which is a 'must' for anyone interested in horses. And there are so much more we never got around to do. There is a great selection of restaurant in and around Saumour, we tested a few and they were great.

“A peaceful, tranquil pad ideally located to explore a stunning region!”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2012

Our family of three had a brilliant week exploring the Loire region, using this well kitted out pad as a base. If all you need is a bathroom, living/kitchen area and one bedroom in a relaxing, quiet and peaceful vacation, (never mind beautiful!),then look no further! All at a bargain price too! Many thanks for a great holiday!
