Description from owner

Description

Le Pinier is a 300 year-old farmhouse currently with 1 gite: ‘Le Jardin’. New owners are in place for the 2019 season and are looking forward to welcoming visitors to their home.

Le Jardin is on one floor, but not on one level, having steps up and down to bedrooms, bathroom etc. The bathroom and kitchen have been fully refurbished for this coming season. The kitchen is fully fitted and includes a dishwasher: the sitting room and kitchen are combined. There is also a washing machine.

There are two large bedrooms, one a double and the other a twin. A travel cot is available as well as an extra bed if required: please let us know in advance if either are required.

Both rooms have french doors opening on to the garden terrace just by the swimming pool. A further shaded terrace, wonderful for sitting under when the sun is just too hot! is just around the corner.

A large garden (almost 1 acre) with swings and a boule court, plus tables and chairs scattered around the garden under trees, to enjoy the wonderful rural views and also to take shade.

Le Pinier is approximately 2 kilometres from a small village, which has a good restaurant. There is a well-stocked village store which has recently opened (owned by the Commune), where one can buy fresh bread, milk, cheese, etc

Le Jardin shares the pool facilities with the owners.

The area is very rural, Le Pinier being 1 of 5 houses in a small hamlet. This rural location offers an extensive network of cycle/walking tracks. There are also several inland lakeside "beaches" close by in the Mervent forest. This area offers wonderful forest walks together with a Zoo and Forest Adventure Park.

For more organised activites, Puy du Fou recently voted No. 1 theme park in the World!... and Futuroscope are about 75 minutes away, both are well worth a visit.

The nearest coast is just over an hour away... Les Conches has miles of unspoilt sand. If you would like to visit a seaside town, try Chatillion Plage ...it even sports a free library on the beach! It has many restaurants to choose from if you want a leisurely lunch before a stroll along the promenade or the lovely soft sand ...it is just south of La Rochelle

The Ile de Re often described as " Paris by the Sea " is also near La Rochelle .... and has miles of very flat cycle ways ...altogether a lovely way to see the island ...definitely worth a visit if you want to explore.

‘Green Venise’ is about 40 minutes away ...having waterways and cycle paths ... so if you fancy a punt with shade on a hot day this is the area to visit.

If old towns and architecture interest you ... do take a look at Niort, Parthenay ... and Richelieu on the way up to the Loire ...which is only 2 hours away ... giving lots of Chateaux and of course more flat cycle paths!

The Mervent - Vouvant forest is close by, extending over 5000 hectares. In the heart of the forest, the Mervent dam forms a large lake. Numerous sports activities are available in the forest, such as hiking, riding, mountain biking, many water activities and many paths for a simple walk. Vouvant itself is well worth a visit: a medieval ‘Petite Cité de Charactère’ with beautiful walks round the ramparts, a couple of eateries and gift shops.

“Peaceful Vandee”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2017

we had a lovely week staying with Jane and Ian in Le Jardin. The gardens and pool area are well kept and very pretty. The bedrooms are a good size with double doors out onto the garden, making them nice and bright. The kitchen is well stocked with all you need. Jane and Ian were great at helping us when our daughter fell ill, making an appointment for us with their own English speaking doctor. Our only downside was the weather, not something anyone can control!

Response from the owner Thanks for a great review ... so pleased we could help with Hannah ..and that she is now much better ..thanks too for taking the time to do a review ..very much appreciated ..so sorry about the weather ! ..but as you say ..no one can control that !... Glad we could help you have a good holiday despite the weather!!

“Wonderful gite, fabulous hosts”

Reviewed 12 Jun 2013

We spent a month with Ian and Jane in their delightful gite - LE jardin. Ian and Jane were extremely helpful and attentive and all our needs were met! Beautiful garden and many villages and places of interest around especially enjoyed vovuant.

Response from the owner Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to write a review.... we really appreciate it....and it helps others to make a decision to come and stay.. We are really pleased we were able to help you to have a great time here in the Vendee...despite the weather!!! Thanks again Jane and Ian

“Little jewel in the heart of La Vendee”

Reviewed 10 May 2013

Here is a very well equipped gite somewhat remote, yet with easy access to moderately large towns such as La Chataignerie and Niort. These themselves are a pleasure to visit, but local to the give are splendid rural walks, full of flora and fauna. The gite itself is charming and looks out on a swimming pool with about an acre of grounds around. The owners are helpful and with their local knowledge, can advise on things to see and do in the vicinity. This gite is highly recommended.

Response from the owner Thanks so much for your recommendation ....it really helps potential guests to choose .... such a hard choice .... and reviews do make a difference... Our gites are both rural and rustic ...but only 5 minutes from our village St Hilaire de Voust with a lovely Boulangerie and a very good Restaurant

“A French home from home”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2012

Very French, with lovely surroundings. The accommodation was very well laid out and comfortable. You are welcomed with a meal if you want, and then given the tour. You are given an information pack covering all the things you would need for your stay. There was satellite TV, and loads of DVD's if you wanted, this is a holiday home from home. Highly recommended.

Response from the owner Thanks so much for your review .... we really appreciate you taking the time to write one.... it is so helpful for our future guests to get a feel of what we are offering at Le Pinier.... so pleased you liked it!
