Accommodation at The Old Forge is all on one level making it ideal for families and those with limited mobility. Stone floors with underfloor heating throughout. The centerpiece of the open plan living, dining & kitchen area is an unusual curved brick fireplace which features a cosy wood burning stove. Furnished with comfortable leather sofas, and solid oak furniture this is a light & airy living space. Smart TV, Music System and Free WiFi

The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to cook fabulous meals while you are away. Or why not have a rest from cooking and eat out at one of several excellent eating places in the local area? Stainless Steel Range Cooker, Fridge Freezer, Microwave, Dishwasher & Washer/Dryer.

All of our bedrooms (2 King Size Doubles and 2 Twins) are furnished with stunning traditional iron bedsteads. Many of our guests comment on how comfy our mattresses are. Bedrooms are furnished with country pine furniture and beds are dressed with luxurious 200 thread count cotton bedlinen.

There is a large family bathroom and one of our doubles also has an en-suite shower room.

Outside there is off road parking for up to 3 cars and a small private patio garden with garden furniture. Situated in the pretty village of West Lutton, The Old Forge overlooks St Mary's Church and is ideally situated for visiting The Wolds, Yorkshire Coast, North York Moors, and City of York.

NOTES ON PRICING: We offer reduced rates for under occupancy during Winter, Low and Mid Seasons with the exception of the Easter and Half Term Holidays. Prices for reduced occupancy are based on the number of bedrooms used. Reduced rates for 6 persons are for occupancy of 3 Bedrooms and rates for 4 persons are for occupancy of 2 Bedrooms. If for example 4 single people require a bedroom each, then the full occupancy rate for 8 persons must be paid.

Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, which as you say was moved several times due to Covid-19. Since you booked directly through our website we were able to accommodate these changes for you. Due to Covid-19 we have removed a number of items from the cottage which we felt would be difficult for us to sanitise including a wooden chopping board, but a melamine one is still available in the kitchen cupboard. The Trip Advisor listing clearly states that The Old Forge has an open plan living, kitchen dining area as does our website, where a Floorplan is provided. Unfortunately I cannot see a way to upload this onto Trip Advisor. Many of our guests love that it is open plan, particularly those who are celebrating a family birthday or anniversary, as it enables everyone to socialise in the same area. There is also a photo on our website which shows the layout of the patio garden and parking area, which I removed from the Trip Advisor listing as it was confusing to some guests who thought they were booking our house and not the Barn! Please remember that Trip Advisor is purely a listing site and that you will always get the best and most accurate information as well as the best rates, by contacting the owner who knows their property inside out. Why can't I call Caroline (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Caroline (the owner) a message.

If Caroline (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
