From the owner

The property is a Victorian town house over 4 floors built around 1855 retaining much of the period character. PETS WELCOME. PRIVATE PARKING.

Overlooking the River Esk, with views of the Abbey and the river from all floors. The house is on a quiet tree lined private road with its own parking for 2 - 3 cars and is less than 5 mins walk into the town of Whitby.

There is a private walled front garden with sun terrace looking onto the river and marina, with a south east facing aspect it receives sun for most of the day.

There are 4 double bedrooms all en-suite, 2 of which can be twin or double. The 1st floor en-suite has a full bath and a power shower.

Three of the bedrooms offer king-size beds. There is an additional house bathroom with bath on the ground floor. There are two lounges both with tv, log burning stoves,the ground floor lounge has an oval dining table which seats up to 8 and a bay window overlooking the garden, ideal for breakfast, afternoon tea or Victorian style dinner in front of a roaring log fire.

The large modern Victorian styled dining kitchen seats 8 around an oak topped island fitted with usb charging outlets for modern living, it is fully equipped, including a classic gas aga range with plate.warming oven, programmable coffee machine, coffee bean grinder, food processor, even expert culinary equipment such as a mincing machine. There is also a utility / drying room on the ground floor. An attractively appointed secure rear yard with hanging baskets and planters of flowers and culinary herbs has provision for sitting out, covered clothes drying, hot and cold water cleaning for boots and bikes also storage of bikes or kayaks.

The first floor lounge has spectacular views of the river Esk, Marina and Abbey, there is a discretely fitted 4kUHD TV with Netflix. Binoculars are provided for bird and Seal watching along the river from bedroom or lounge,

Renovations were completed late 2017 . The house has been awarded 4 Star Gold by Visit England. A welcome food hamper is included, along with hand wash and shower gel, also logs/coal for the two wood burning stoves. A special festive welcome hamper is included for Xmas/New year bookings and the house is decorated with Victorian style seasonal trimmings, and plenty of logs for the wood burning stoves. Listen out for the Whitby Victorian Carol singers .

Please note there is a refundable security deposit paid directly to the owner 2 weeks before arrival, refunds are by bank transfer within 3 days of departure.

Deposit is £300 or if pets are staying £400. Also please note a few low season special offer reduced rate bookings are available each year but have a few conditions, please enquire if interested.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Chris (the owner) a message.

If Chris (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
