Dorset country cottage with self catering for two in Witchampton.

Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque and historic village of Witchampton in the Vale of the River Allen. Much care was expended in converting this old telephone exchange into a relaxing holiday retreat for the discerning couple.

Its location gives the best of all worlds - equally close to the Isle of Purbeck or the New Forest, and adjacent to Cranborne Chase - yet only ten minutes from Wimborne itself with its historic Minster and charming shops.

The accommodation consists of one double en-suite bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, separate cloakroom, lounge with extensive views over the countryside. The property has a cosy oil fired central heating system and wifi. There is ample parking outside for at least two cars.

There is so much to do from here - walking, mountain biking, fishing, sailing courses, mooching and tea shopping, pub lunches, great restaurants ....or absolutely nothing and let the world roll by.

The Owners Peter and Sarah live next door at High Lea Cottage and are generally available to greet guests and on hand to give advice of favourite walks or local pursuits. Having moved here 20 years ago, they have thoroughly enjoyed thoroughly exploring within a 50 mile radius - generally including a pub somewhere in the mix!

Dear Anne, thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. Unfortunately your stay did get off on the wrong foot as due to a booking error, you were able to book within 24hrs with no ability for us to confirm before acceptance. We did apologise and explain at the time. We have located and disabled this option within the booking portal as both Sarah and I are unable to guarantee to check booking emails frequently enough to prevent disappointment. The collection of brochures is one we regularly add to, and only remove if attractions no longer exist, some are ones either ourselves or guests have helpfully left following travels further afield so may well be more than a year old. I am sorry to hear about the problems with the newly installed timer/thermostat, it is likely the heating came on because it became cold below the temperature set by the heating engineer. I will check that everything is set OK, but we have had guests before and after without issue. I do hope that the location, accommodation and view will be sufficient to encourage you to return, and with better preparation by ourselves, you will have a better experience, best regards, Peter

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Peter (the owner) a message.

If Peter (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
