“Anvil CottageAgreat place to stay”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2018

A great place to stay. A very cosy cottage with all the facilities needed for a very enjoyable break. Very conveniently located for the town and with great access for so many places of interest.

“Small cottage in handy location”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2018

This cottage is in a good location and within 5 minutes walk of 2 supermarkets (Budgens has a cash point), a pub, cafes, a chinese takeaway and a chip shop! There are other facilities on the main street which is a 10 minute walk away. The surrounding area has lots of fantastic countryside and attractions. We were busy attending the horseracing everyday at Cheltenham so didn't spend too much time in the cottage, but it had everything we needed and was clean and well equipped with some extras (flowers, coffee, milk etc) kindly left too! We did feel, (as two average size adults!), that the settee was quite small for 2 people to relax on comfortably, There cottage was lovely and warm and there was plenty of hot water for hot baths in a nice big bath. The fan in the bathroom (which goes on when the light is turned on) was very noisy and took ages to turn itself off which can be annoying if trying to get to sleep, Overall, this cottage was in the perfect location for our needs and we would recommend it for any other horseracing fans, needing a place to stay.

“Wonderful cottage, conveniently located, lots to see and do and such lovely owner”

We had a wonderful time at Anvil Cottage, which is very clean and well looked after. Julia goes to a lot of thought and detail to make your stay welcoming and relaxing. (Thank you for the lovely wine, flowers and milk waiting on our arrival! - this was such a nice touch!). Along with this we were given some local recommendations, which was absolutely spot on! Food fanatics is brilliant. Winchcombe has plenty to do and see. Many lovely restaurants, shops and cafes. Everything within walking distance.Would definitely visit again!

“Winchcombe Gem!”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2017

Perfect location for walkers and those who wish to escape the car. Anvil Cottage was a delight, high standard throughout with own parking space which is rare in Winchcombe. Julia had provided a thoughtful welcome package which was much appreciated. I have no hesitation to recommend Anvil Cottage to friends & family.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your lovely review! Hope to see you back again soon. Julia

“Charming well decorated,clean cottage”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2017

Well located in Winchcombe within easy reach of many places to visit. A small cottage with good sized living room and bedroom! Nice to be able to sit outside too. Very comfortable for two. We thought there could have been more info about basics, like when the rubbish is collected and where the nearest doctors' surgery is (we didn't need it but you never know). Julia told us about two of the pubs but not about the Corner Cupboard which is brilliant but which we didn't find until looking in the visitors book on the last day! We would be happy to stay here again.

“Very today and all things you need catered.”

Great place to stay. Parking space. Lovely and clean and a good base to explore the Cotswolds. A couple of good inns and a really friendly Conservative Working Men's club.

“Fantastic”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2016

We stayed three nights in this sweet little cottage. Found it really clean and well equipped. Minor blip was a leaky boiler but reported it to the owners Mother who was willing to sort it straight away ( owner was out of he country during our stay ) As it wasn't a major problem it was decided to wait until our three days were up to get fixed and it caused us no problems at all . Lovely extras provided is milk & wine in fridge and lovely furnishings and towels. Hope to return next year for another visit .

“Home away from home”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2016

We stayed at Anvil Cottage for 4 nights in August and what a wonderful little cottage it is. Beautifully decorated with everything we needed for our stay - including a bottle of wine and some milk! Thanks to Julia for her thoughtfulness and for the use of the cottage which is in a fantastic location close to the town centre but in a quiet little courtyard and it has on site parking as well - safe and secure. We were extremely comfortable and are sorry we couldn't have stayed longer - highly recommend.
