Upon entering, you are transferred into a French Provincial Farmhouse with high cathedral ceiling to an open plan living, dining and kitchen. Reverse-cycle air-conditioning to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter, plus the additional benefit of a wood fire to keep you really toasty. Unique industrial antique pieces hang from the gable with a chandelier in the centre of the cottage.
The cottage is incredibly private and secluded within an acre of garden in a tranquil bushland setting. It’s a perfect vantage point with Woodend township 5 min away, the village of Mt Macedon a 10min drive straight up the mountain or Kyneton a 10 min drive to reach acclaimed restaurants. Countless cellar door within an easy drive.
We are pet friendly by negotiation, have two alpacas as residents and your amongst native animals of kangaroos, koalas and abundant bird life.
Facilities at Woodend Cottage
As you enter the cottage an open plan enchanting living area with cathedral ceilings, comfortable furniture and central wood fire is a great place to relax and decompress after a day out exploring. There’s a vast leather couch which will swallow you up, LED TV, Bluray, Sound system, movies and board games.
A warm, welcoming and humbly comfortable rustic farmhouse kitchen is at the far end and is fully equipped to stay in and cook a large, farm-to-table style meal. The traditional butlers farmhouse sink in the center point of the room located under the window. Everything you need to cook or entertain is offered including all modern appliances and other unpredictable ones such as cocktail ice slushi and popcorn makers. Centre of the kitchen is a table with four bench seats. At the breakfast nook and in the pantry are cooking and breakfast provisions for your self-catering holiday.
As you head along the hallway towards the bedrooms you pass a café style table with two handcrafted wine barrel chairs.
The main bedroom to the left is a spacious and luxurious with a French Queen Anne feel with soft chiffon canopy hanging over the bed, Louis armchair, hotel quality linen, exclusive alpaca fleece quilt and a grand selection of pillows to choose from. For comfort a panel heater, electric blankets, bedside tables, luggage rack and clothes rack. It has its own personality, charm and laid-back warmth.
The vaulted 2nd bedroom is able to accommodate 2 people separately in two extra long single beds or as a King size bed. There are two bedside tables with lamps, a clothes rack, panel heater, electric blankets, luggage rack, 56” LED TV mounted against the wall and all hotel quality bed linen.
Central to the cottage is the bathroom, which is cosy, classy, and romantic all in one. With its storybook charm it comprises of an antique vanity, two large wooden mirrors, bathtub, hairdryer, candle chandelier and separate shower with rain showerhead.
Supplied towels sit under an array of rustic items including original French seed packet labels. To warm up the bathroom is an overhead heat lamp and also an air conviction heater above the vanity.
The exterior is as distinctive and fascinating as in the interior. The porch along the whole length of the front of the cottage has views out into the garden. Along one-side sits a beat-out yellow sofa of views of hanging up from the tree are up cycled vintage sculptures. Perfect for drinking coffee or tea in the morning, bird watching or reading a book. Located in the black chest are a number of pillows and blankets that can be used on the large daybed below or under the tree with the couples love swing.
Walking towards the other side of the porch leads out to a vast outdoor entertaining deck with views out to the trees and is the perfect spot to sit and relax or cook on the BBQ and then eat on the tables and chairs under the shade umbrella.
Exploring the garden where we have planted local plant species to bring back wildlife. There are lawn areas to be enjoyed, lavender maze to walk through and other quirky items that you don’t normally see such as a piano with flowers bursting out of the top.
At he rear of the cottage is our Active centre, which has sports and other equipment for use such as balls, bats, bowling, darts, picnic backpacks and child items of portable cot and high chair
