We love wilderness and there is so little of it in the countryside that we leave nature to do it's work and adopt a low management strategy to encourage wildlife-animals, birds, insects . Roeburnscar is a ground floor environmentally friendly wooden cottage which is uniquely flexible, sleeping 2-9 people with 4 bedrooms sleeping up to 7 (1 superking, 2 twins 1 single) or 5 bedrooms sleeping up to 9 (main house with additional flat double bed sleeping 2)and the flat for one or two out of season.. Prices are based on 9 persons so please contact us for a price for 7 persons house only without flat on roeburnscarholidaycottage website. It has a "Gold" level grading from Green Tourism and is situated on Backsbottom organic farm with beautiful views of the river Roeburn . There are no traffic sounds or light pollution so is brilliant for star gazing at the top of the farm track. It offers a peaceful getaway being surrounded by ancient woodland and wildflower meadows-a great place for children and adults to explore wildlife tracks or unusual rocks in the river. There is lots to discover in this hidden valley of Roeburndale. You can sit on the verandah and watch the buzzards flying overhead and herons fishing in the river with maybe a deer observing you from the meadow. It's 10 min. walk to Wray where there is 1 pub and the local tea room has delicious lunches and teas. It is a frequent stop off for cyclists and has a children's play area and willow labyrinth. Golf course, swimming pool, fishing and riding are available within 6 miles. Free half day rural skills courses for group size over 6. NO TV. See website roeburnscar for more details.
