Linnet Cottage is a two bedroom pet friendly self catering farm cottage. Linnet has private parking and a fully enclosed garden. The cottage is ideal for guests wanting a comfortable base from which to explore Berwick-upon-Tweed and Northumberland.

Situated on a family-run organic arable farm Linnet Cottage is perfect for walking holidays or simply staying put and relaxing in the garden. The super king sized bed is perfect for a long-lie in the morning, watching the guinea fowl and ducks graze in the field. Enjoy our fresh organic eggs for breakfast. There is always milk in the fridge, fresh flowers on the dining table and lots of information to help you decide where to venture that day.

For the those who like to head out for a long walk, our local beaches are absolutely fantastic and only a 15 minute drive from Thornton. You could head for Alnwick Gardens or Lindisfarne. All wonderful days away and a slice of what Northumberland has to offer. If you want to stay close to home we offer walks around the farm so you too can share our 51 species of birdlife as noted by the RSPB. With a south-facing garden looking out to fields you will have a lovely setting for a barbeque.

Our local pub is 3 miles away with good food, an open fire and real ales. Our local butcher, baker and newsagent are in Norham which is a 5 minute drive.

The cottage accepts no more than two pets. The garden is safe and secure.

For couples with an infant, we have a travel cot and highchair. There is no supplement for an infant or child aged under 3.

Laura will check that you have everything you need for your holiday. She will be your main point of contact and lives one mile away in case of emergency. Her mobile number will always be available. There are plenty of guidebooks and suggestions of days out in the cottage. For immediate emergencies we can help from the Farmhouse. This is only a one minute walk from Linnet. We like to respect your privacy but remain on hand if need be.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Laura (the owner) a message.

If Laura (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
