This 18th century cottage is situated in a small farming hamlet nestled into the hillside in the picturesque and protected Mont de Blond, Haute Vienne, Limousin. The property has been lovingly restored, where possible retaining and exposing all the original features in the property. It now offers original character in the 21st century, with beamed ceilings, small doorways, many original doors, original oak staircase and fireplace with bread oven now fitted with a wood burning stove. Well equipped kitchen/dining room and separate comfy lounge with TV and DVD. Enjoy your time dining alfresco in the pretty private courtyard or in the lawned garden. Our French friends and neighbours often say to us how beautiful the house now looks. Only a few minutes drive into the pretty medieval village of Blond which has a boulangerie/épicerie, maraîcher (small holding where you can buy fruit and veg), French restaurant “Chez Boulette” and Italian restaurant "La Grange”, brocante, woolcraft shop, post office and hair dressing salon. A 10 minute drive will lead you to Bellac, the nearest town, with all you need for your holiday, shops, banks, chemists, bars, restaurants and supermarkets etc and an open air swimming pool in summer months. A 20 minute drive will take you to the town of St. Junien, with its beautiful and historic buildings, restaurants and wonderful shops, swimming pool (indoor and outdoor in summer months). Oradour Sur Glane, village memorial, is just a 15 minute drive from Blond. We have put together an extensive information file which provides information on the cottage along with details of all local amenities and activities available.

Checking In: 16.00 (4pm) Later arrivals may be arranged with the owners, up to 19.00 (7pm).

Checking Out: 10.00 (10am) latest.

A welcome pack can be organised for your arrival, with essentials such as milk, tea, coffee, water, bread, butter etc, especially useful if you are flying. This requires arranging with the owners. Electricity is payable upon departure, for each unit consumed over the amount of 8 units which are included in the rental price per day.

The Mont de Blond is perfect for hiking, rambling or just strolls, rural/countryside retreat, cycling or VTT, city getaway, fishing, golf, horse riding or indeed sightseeing around the region. Or if you just wish to relax with a good book or sit and sip a glass or two.

Ryanair fly to Limoges Bellegarde Airport from London Stansted, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, E Midlands etc.

Ryanair also fly to Poitiers Airport.

British Airways fly to Limoges from London Gatwick.

Arrival check in is between 4pm and 7pm. I will be there to meet you when you arrive, to show you the gite and its facilities. I will be able to answer any questions that you may have and help you wherever necessary with settling in. I will be on hand during your stay (unforseen circumstances withstanding) to help and advise you if needed. I have put together a tourist information file and also a comprehensive information pack for your use. If you should require suggestions of recommendations, please do not hesitate to ask. If you should need anything further in the gite, you will be able to ask me. Departure is from 9am until 10am. An earlier time can be considered with notice. Thankyou.

Why can't I call Elaine Marie (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Elaine Marie (the owner) a message.

If Elaine Marie (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
