From the owner

Gorge View Cottage is an old gardener's cottage recently fully renovated to exacting environmental standards, with access to the large permaculture garden. This four-star and Gold graded (Visit England) and Gold award (Green Tourism) accommodation is ideal for one or two people and it is available for week or weekend self-catering hire throughout the year.

We accept booking for complete weeks on TripAdvisor/FlipKey, but please contact us if you are interested in stays from 2-days and upwards for a specific quote. Better still check out our own website.

Situated in a small lane, conveniently located in Cheddar village, the cottage has uninterrupted and panoramic views to the gorge. It is the perfect holiday location with easy access to stunning walks around the Mendips and the gorge itself; with the caves, shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes all just a few minutes' walk away.

Slightly further afield are attractions such as the beautiful city of Wells, more caves at Wookey Hole, the Somerset coast at Brean Down or Weston-Super-Mare, and of course Glastonbury with the Tor, alternative shops and the ancient Abbey.

For anyone needing a gentle break from the pressures of life Gorge View Cottage has it all.

We live in Gorge View House next door to the cottage and share the drive. When you turn up we'll probably be in and pop out to meet and greet you, quickly show you the key things about the cottage and then let you get on with settling in. Our approach is that we will assume everything is fine, but if you want some information, want to know how something works, need to borrow some kitchen equipment, or a bowl of sugar, or have help lighting the wood burning stove if you'd like to try it ... then please just ask.

Why can't I call Huw (the owner) before booking?

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Huw (the owner) a message.

If Huw (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
