With far reaching views across the surrounding Shropshire Hills - Arden House offers quality self-contained holiday apartments, with well-appointed kitchens, sleeping from two to six guests - all retaining the unique character of this Arts & Crafts country house.

With ample private parking, Arden House is only a short level walk from the centre of Church Stretton, with a wide selection of independent shops and quality restaurants. It is ideally situated for discovering the delights of Shropshire with the historic towns of Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Much Wenlock and the renowned food mecca of Ludlow all just 30 minutes away by car or even less by train.

The Mackintosh Apartment

As one of the pioneers of the Art & Crafts movement, the influences of Charles Renee Mackintosh can be seen throughout this elegant apartment. The large lounge/dining room has a double aspect, with windows overlooking the Caradoc and the Longmynd. The apartment offers luxury and comfort for the perfect, relaxing holiday where every need has been catered for.

We have five-star reviews for cleanliness and all apartments will be deep-cleaned before arrival, all bed linen and towels are washed at sixty degrees.

All apartments are private and we can arrange check-ins without personal contact if our guests so wish.

Accommodation comprises:

The Mackintosh apartment provides spacious accommodation - all recently refurbished, offering our guests the perfect home away from home – stylish, comfortable and where every requirement has been carefully taken into consideration - perfect to relax and unwind.

The lounge/dining room offers ample seating, with a dining table, desk, coffee and console tables and a plasma TV with a DVD player. The well-appointed kitchen has quality appliances including an oven with ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, toaster, microwave and ample pans, crockery, glasses and utensils.

The bedroom has a king-size bed, luxury mattress and bedding, with quality furnishings, hairdryer and ample storage including a double wardrobe plenty of coat hangers, a dressing table and an ensuite bathroom with shower ample towels and toiletries.

For your convenience we provide bed linen, ample bath towels/sheets, an iron and ironing pad, cling film, tinfoil, dish washer and laundry tabs, washing-up liquid, dish clothes and tea towels. For your safety all electrical appliances are PAT tested, there is a fire extinguisher, a carbon monoxide monitor and a first aid kit.

Our aim is to make your visit as relaxing as possible and we will be delighted to offer help and advice with planning walks or mountain bike routes, places to visit, restaurant recommendations and bookings. If you have something to celebrate we can help plan an occasion to remember.

From golfing to gliding or bike hire to wild swimming – we are happy to help!

Impeccably presented, comfortable, large apartment with lovely views. Very quiet but close to the centre of Church Stretton in the heart of the Shropshire Hills.

Why can't I call Ian and Julie (the owner) before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How can I view and manage my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to view all your booking details, pay the balance of your holiday or cancel it if you need to.

How do I pay the balance of my holiday?

You can pay the remaining balance of your holiday at any point. Simply go to Manage my holiday booking and click Pay now.

We’ll automatically charge the balance payment to the same payment method 10 days before it’s due. Go to Manage my holiday booking to see when the payment will be taken.

How can I retract my booking request?

You’ll need to contact Ian and Julie (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Ian and Julie (the owner) a message.

If Ian and Julie (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
