This pretty, spacious cottage is set on the banks of the river Boyne, in walking distance of the beach, the championship County Louth golf course and the friendly village pub in Baltray and is just three and a half miles outside the historic town of Drogheda.
Its traditional style makes for a homely, cosy atmosphere, while the extensive, open plan dining and living room creates comfortable spaces for larger groups. There is a large garden (approximately 1/2 acre) to the rear. The house fronts onto a private farm yard which, for safety reasons, is out of bounds to children and guests.
The cottage is ideal for families and groups, golfing enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Baltray is home to the County Louth championship links golf course which has hosted the Irish Open.
Guests can immerse themselves in nature on the banks of the river Boyne. Wake to the sound of curlews on the Boyne estuary bird sanctuary or see them swoop overhead at dusk. Enjoy the unspoilt sandy, shell strewn beaches at Baltray, Seapoint and Clogherhead or walk along the strand which stretches unbroken from Baltray to Clogherhead passing the iconic ship wreck dug deep into the sand.
Guests can make the most of Ireland's Ancient East with the beautiful baroque Beaulieu House just up the road, the nearby ancient burial mound of Newgrange, the high crosses and round tower at Monasterboice, the medieval Melifont Abbey along with Drogheda's many historical sites including Mill Mount museum and its Martello tower, Laurence's gate and Saint Oliver Plunkett's remains in St Peter's church. The seat of the high kings of Ireland at Tara, the high cross at Kells and Slane Castle are also all within reach.
Shopping is available in Termonfeckin where there is a petrol station, post office, supermarket and a farm shop selling local produce including, at Christmas, their famed free range turkeys. Drogheda has a wide range of shops with restaurants, pubs, bars and cinemas for nights out. Alternatively guests can eat out atTermonfeckin's Triple House restaurant and Waterside Inn.
