Very Good

“Cottage with a stunning sea view”

Reviewed 14 May 2019

Sitting above the rocks overlooking St Michael's Mount in Marazion Cornwall, this cottage is full of charm and character and provides a window (literally) on the coastal world of Mount's Bay. The upstairs living area affords the most amazing view on the comings and goings around the mount. The tide, the weather, the people and shipping are all constantly changing and in technicolor detail. The cottage is also close to many of the local pubs and eateries. As described fully by other reviewers, the cottage has all the facilities required for a comfortable stay away from home, and then some. The bed is large, extremely comfortable and the bedding luxurious. The bathroom has a separate shower and jacuzzi bath. Upstairs, the living space is super comfortable and has all of the facilities to make a stay of any length and of any weather comfortable. TV, satellite, DVD, radio, books and games, meaning even on wet days there is some way to have fun or relax. Finally a note about the owner Sue. She provided a delicious welcome meal having first checked any dislikes, took the trouble to check we were settled and made herself available to help with problems and local recommendations. Excellent, friendly and helpful service, which was much appreciated.

Response from the owner "We are really happy that Cockleshell was able to help recharge the batteries, our location does have that great ability to do this. Many thanks for taking the time to review us, We all really appreciate your comments. Thanks from us all. x"

“Perfection.....we just fell in love with this place”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2017

We had spent hours looking for holiday accommodation, I was being picky because I knew what I wanted. I was not disappointed, my husband walked into Cockleshell first and I could tell from his face 'all was going to be ok' Everything looks new and it smells clean and fresh, the place is immaculate and every bit of space is used to it's full potential. We were treated to a delicious meal on arrival, an added touch which went down well, really well. There are loads of added touches that made our stay all the more special like: his & her bathrobes n slippers, his & her bookshelves stocked with a great selection of books, iPod with a fab selection of music (the number of times we said "I haven't heard this song for ages'), digi radio, binoculars, picnic bag & blanket, great artwork... I could go on and on but I would spoil it for when you book. The main room deffo is 'a room with a view', we spent so many hours just watching the ever-changing view, seriously with the changeable weather you get a changeable view. This is a view we will never tire of, The outside patio has comfy seating, this was really appreciated, too many times we have gone away and not had somewhere comfy to sit. From booking to returning home the communication from the Cockleshell 'A' team has been on point and we will certainly be looking for dates when we can return. Thank you so much for giving us the holiday we needed and memories we will hold tight forever.

Response from the owner "Thanks for taking the time to leave the review, we all really appreciate it, especially as this was your second visit. We glad the cottage still lives up to your expectations. Look forward to you coming back."

“A real Gem”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2017

My wife and I stayed in this beautiful cottage for a week, it was so well equipped, everything you needed to make your stay comfortable. The welcome pack was beyond generous with the most delicious home cooked meal left for us. The view is quite spectacular. We could not recommend it more highly and cant wait to return.

Response from the owner "We are really glad you enjoyed your stay at Cockleshell. We have always tried to treat our guests the way we want to be treated and we really appreciate your comments and feed back and hope that this can give other guests a good perspective of the cottage and it's amenities. Thanks and best wishes from us all."

Stayed for 5 nights and wanted to stay longer. Shame about the weather but to be honest we didn't go for the weather. We went for a break and it definately ticked all the boxes. Stunning location, cottage, 5* service......we couldn't fault anything. Would love to go back again. Extremely friendly owner who knew just how to give you a lovely relaxing break. Can't think of anything negative. If you are looking for a few days, week or two it is the best location. Even with the wet weather we encountered while we were staying at the cottage it was so nice to come back to the house and lay back and enjoy the St Michael Mount View!! Absolately stunning. Lovely location - nothing too far to travel to - couldn't have been better. Hope to go back sometime soon.

Response from the owner Thanks for your comments & review, we really appreciate it.

“warms the 'cockleshells' of your heart”

Reviewed 29 May 2012

A little bit luxury away from home. The sort of place you wish you could call home! A wonderful holiday let that was made even more special by Sue's extra touches from the two course meal on arrival to the cream tea goody bag on departure. Topped off with the overall magic of Cornwall, it was truly unforgettable.

Response from the owner Thanks for your review, we really appreciate it. We also look forward to you coming back in the Autumn.

“Light and airy with superb views”

Reviewed 21 May 2012

All the comforts of home plus touches of luxury. We were welcomed on arrival with a lovely 3 course meal prepared just ready for us to heat - a real treat after a long day's travel- and farewelled with a scrumptious Cornish cream tea, all courtesy of the kind owners. The cottage has an unusual layout with the living and kitchen areas upstairs. This gives superb views of St Michael's Mount and the seascape. Everything has been thought of in the kitchen. The bedding and linen were of very high quality. We were warm and snug despite some fierce Cornish gales. The cottage is spacious enough for a couple. The only minor issue is the lack of parking - the allocated parking space is a few hundred yards away, and did make it difficult for unloading and re-loading our luggage in the car.

Response from the owner Many thanks for your great review, and we are really happy you felt the service received was good. Just a quick point, guests are able to unload in Chapel Street, which is about 80 feet from Cockleshell's front door. Thanks again for your time in reviewing us.

When we first saw the cottage it had a wow factor straight away, stunning views, magnificent property, lovely decor, what more could one want? oh and i forgot to include the lovely meal that was waiting for us along with a bottle of wine. Our best break ever,by far.Every little detail had been thought of. It was a joy to meet the owner Sue who went out of her way to make you feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble . We hope to return very soon. Left feeling very refreshed in fact we didn't really want to go . But work beckoned.. Chris & Heather

Response from the owner Many Thanks for your great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your break and look forward to you coming back in October.
