From the owner

Our traditional Swedish cottage 'Björn stuga' is a 33 sq.m. log house set in a very small and quiet village less than 12 km out of Ockelbo. It is a cosy, comfortable and homely cottage which we renovated and decorated in 2017 with great love and care so that our guests can enjoy their holiday and their stay. The cottage is ideal for 2 people who need peace, privacy and the need to reconnect with and enjoy the beautiful Swedish nature. A river runs only 50 m far from the house where you can fish and bathe; a lake is only a 10-min trip on foot and the walks through the forest and fields are most delightful. Berry picking and mushroom picking are also great seasonal activities but please always remember to leave some berries for our bears; we do have a good number of them around! On some occasions, you may want to take part in the locally famous Mörtebo motion-bingo and even win some local treats!

The house has the required comforts to make your holiday relaxing and enjoyable but if there is something else that you need besides what is in the cottage, we will be very happy to help. My husband and I who own this cottage live in the main house nearby and we are very agreeable and friendly. We are retired British citizens who have fled the London rat race, fallen in love with Mörtebo and the beauty of the local countryside and have now made it our home!

The town of Ockelbo has all the amenities you might need while on holiday such as an ICA supermarket. post office, Handelsbanken bank, swimming pool, restaurants and a coffee shop, a library, a cinema, a health centre, dental clinics, opticians, hairdressers, etc. For more elaborate shopping the towns of Gävle and Sandviken are only 45 min by car from Ockelbo.

As my husband and I are on site living near the cottage, you are welcome to come and visit us for a nice cup of coffee or tea or to find out more about the area or even explore the walking trails with us for the first time. You can call upon us if there is an emergency or a problem or even if you would like some advice. Between my husband and me, we are fluent in English, French, Russian, Greek and we have a growing understanding of Swedish. We are very approachable and, being retired, we have time to look after our guests so please feel free to come to us.

    How do damage deposits work?
