Response from the manager
Dear Lee Thank you for your review which concerned us greatly. We are extremely disappointed that you appear not to have enjoyed your stay in our property and we were very upset by your remarks and rating which are very much at odds with every other rating we have ever received with our booking agent on their website from our lovely guests. (We would ask you to refer to this website which is the reflection of two years’ worth of lettings.) our review appears to reflect two concerns. The accuracy of the description and your assertion that the property is ‘riddled with damp’ The actual property description on the website is as follows: “Outside to the rear there is a small slated area…” It also states very clearly: “Note: No outdoor space except a small yard.” e always try to be as clear as possible with guests and this is why the description is as detailed as possible. Your second point revolves around the property being ‘riddled with damp’. We have had many happy guests over the last two years and indeed both of the weeks this year either side of your stay have received 5 star reviews. No one has ever raised this as an issue previously. the back of the property was fully tanked two years ago as the property is set into the rock on one side and is directly opposite the sea on the other. Most of our lovely guests regard its location as a positive. Given the exceptionally high temperatures this year the coastal humidity in Cornwall has also been extremely high. By your own admission you kept all of the windows closed and the humidity would not have been helped by you using the washing machine and tumble dryer every day of your stay. Our biggest concern revolves around the actions you took or failed to take. Not only did you stay the full week in a property which you assert was ‘riddled with damp’ and allegedly misrepresented but you specifically instructed our booking agent not to contact the owners. You also for some reason made no representation to our Housekeeper who lives 50 yards away. She is lovely and had she not been able to resolve any issues personally she would have contacted us immediately. Our first concern is ALWAYS the happiness of our guests and if there had truly been problems we would have moved heaven and earth to address them. Kind regards,
