From the owner

Skylark Cottage is a cosy holiday cottage 5 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed. It has three bedrooms and comfortably sleeps six guests. It is the perfect base from which to explore Northumberland, the Scottish Borders and pop up to Edinburgh by train.

Skylark Cottage is situated on an organic arable farm and is surrounded by fields. It has a good sized garden which looks out to farmland and a play area next door.

The cottage is pet friendly and we provide dog towels and a water bowl during your stay.

For guests with bikes, there is a garage which offers safe and dry storage. We are just off the National Cycle routes. If you would prefer to explore the local area by foot there are OS maps in the cottage and lots of ideas of hikes around the vicinity.

We have really tried to keep the décor and furnishings to a high standard. There are John Lewis bedlinen, Alessi cutlery and china crockery. It is important to us that the cottage feels home from home.

Booking confirmation will be sent once the holiday request has been received. Directions and access instructions will be forwarded six weeks before your holiday start date. If you have any special requirements before your holiday we are more than happy to help. We can receive an online grocery delivery the morning of your holiday start date, for example. On arrival Laura will welcome you to Skylark Cottage. She will give you a quick tour of the cottage and answer any questions you may have. We make sure our cottages are warm and cosy for your arrival so the heating and hot water will be switched on. During your stay we are always here to help. Guests are more than welcome to meet our hens, miniature donkeys or the herdwick sheep.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Laura (the owner) a message.

If Laura (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
