Kestrel Cottage is next door to the main house at the former farm of Le Hamel Roger. Part of the cider barn attached to the house has been renovated to create this spacious and welcoming cottage. With many original features and all modern amenities it's a wonderful place for groups of between 2 and 10 people. It's great for families and we offer lots of extras for young children at no extra cost.

Outside the cottage you will discover an acre of garden including quiet places to relax, shady trees (also good for climbing!) seating areas, a BBQ, dining tables and a hill with views across the valley. There are plenty of toys, bats, balls, a big trampoline with safety net, climbing frame, swing set, tyre swing, sand pit and a goal. There is a fully fenced above ground 4.5m swimming pool which is solar heated from June to September. We put a paddling pool up for the summer so smaller guests can make the most of splashing around while in their depth.

There are various 'indoor' places to play too. There is a ping pong table waiting for you in one of our barns. We have our 'dusty barn' (so named because in days gone by it was a hen house and still has the dusty/sandy soft floor) which is perfect for old fashioned imaginative children's play ; there is a traditional school desk, climbing frame, rope swing, dens, all sizes of cars and a tea set, everything you need for an afternoon of mud pies and pretend play!

Just next door to the cottage is the upstairs play loft. It's clean and well equipped with toys for all ages & interests. There is table football, air hockey, miniature pool and giant jenga for bigger players. Baby toys, a mini roller coaster, a tent, ride-on toys and ball pit will amuse smaller players. There is a comfy sofa for you to relax when not required to take your turn!

This area of Normandy offers so much within easy reach. There are miles of tracks through the countryside and woodland right on our doorstep. Great for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. There is a big lake with a little sandy beach within half an hour and both coastlines within an hour. The famous Normandy landing beaches are 45 minutes from here and the wonderful Mont St Michel an hour from us in the other direction. There are plenty of attractions, zoos and family theme parks all around us. There are also loads of parks, rivers, water falls & pretty villages to discover so there is lots to do for free.

We are so lucky to live in an area of such historical importance. The more recent history with World War II is all around us with lots of sites, museums, experiences and of course the beaches. Going back further we've got William the Conqueror, his castle at Falaise is well worth a visit and of course the tapestry at Bayeux.

We live next door with our family. We're happy to help whenever required and it's a pleasure for us to see you enjoying your holiday. We've welcomed lots of 3 generation families, multiple families holidaying together, siblings with their families, big families, small families, bikers, teachers on retreat, guests from all over the world, all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds and it's been great! We've been here for 9 years, love being here and love what we do!

I'm pleased that you have lovely memories of beautiful space and the many things that there are to do around here almost two years after your holiday. You seem to have marked us so harshly because of a smell; there is no smell now so I really can have no idea, two years on, what the problem was. We've seen no sign of humidity issues and no-one has had any allergy problems. None of our many guests since (or before) have menioned such a smell and we are not aware of any problems. We are proud of what we offer and to receive a two star review is really disappointing. I will take heart from all the other happy holiday makers, many of whom return and recomend us to friends. I would urge any of our guests to please raise any concerns with us as soon as possible so that we can address them.

Why can't I call Angela and Danny (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How can I retract my booking request?

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Angela and Danny (the owner) a message.

If Angela and Danny (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
