From the owner

Wight Cottage is adjacent to Fort Victoria and close to the pretty harbour town of Yarmouth. The cottage has wonderful sea views from the master bedroom and from the living room, plus plenty of outside space for safe playing, barbequing with family/friends, or simply enjoying a book or a glass of wine, whilst watching boats sail by as the sun sets over the fort.

The cottage backs onto the Fort Victoria nature reserve, a network of paths that run through woodlands and down to the beach, and forms part of the Isle of Wight coastal path. A short walk away is some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Britain, and some fabulous beaches. Around half of the Isle of Wight is designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and much of it in the West Wight. The area is also packed with historical and cultural landmarks, characterful pubs, and some wonderful attractions for kids.

The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms - a master bedroom and a twin bedroom, and an additional travel cot is available on request. There is a newly-installed bathroom with a 'shower/bath' and heated towel rail. The comfy living room features a sofa, armchair and a log-burning stove. There is a flat screen TV with integrated DVD, a hi-fi system and an extensive library of DVDs, CDs, books and games. The kitchen is very modern, and fully equipped, and a separate dining room.

Parking is available in the car park adjacent to the cottages, about 20m from the front door. There is no road near the cottages, making them exceptionally safe for children to play. There is a private garden to the rear of the property, a private courtyard/BBQ area to the front of the property, opening out to a very large communal garden in front of the beach.

We've been holidaying since we were children, as have our parents before us, and even our grandparents had a little wooden holiday hut at nearby Colwell Beach. We know and love the area very well, and would be delighted to answer any queries you have or make any recommendations. A couple of weeks before your arrival we will send you a welcome pack of suggestions of our favourite restaurants at the moment, and the best things to do in the area. If we're not in the area at the time of your visit, definitely someone from our family will be, and will be happy to help you.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Natasha (the owner) a message.

If Natasha (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
