From the owner

Barn Cottage, completely refurbished in June 2018. It is a self catering well equipped cottage, set in the centre of the world heritage Jurassic Coast and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The cottage has two first floor bedrooms with kingsize beds, the second having an additional single bed. The bathroom is downstairs. We welcome children but regrettably no dogs.

The beach is less than a 15 minute walk away and the shop (with post office), and three very different pubs are all within a 10 minute walk.

Golden Cap, the highest point on the south west coast, is within a 30 minute walk and you can walk to Thorncombe Beacon and West Bay within an hour.

A regular bus service gives easy access to Lyme Regis, famous for fossilling and the 1981 drama The French Lieutenants's Woman, Bridport, Dorchester and Weymouth. The bus stops are less than a 5 minute walk away.

Barn Cottage is within the curtilage of the main house, Midlands Farm, so we do live on site but are down the gravel drive. We say hello upon arrival but otherwise you are left alone to enjoy your holiday. We can of course advise on where to go and things to see and happy to be contacted during your stay if you need us.

Thank you so much for the four bubbles - we always like to aim for five! We take on board your comments and we have had a think – the space available can have two cars and some guests travel this way so a full picnic table would reduce it to one, which is why we have the chairs and the smaller table, which seems to be the best of both worlds. It was great that you had such good weather and that you were able to eat outside and we hope that by letting you park in another way enabled you to have more space and enjoy Barn Cottage. We are extremely conscious of the space available which is why we don’t advertise that there is a garden and seating area. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Cornwall and that you had a safe homeward journey. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us and for your feedback. As a result we are going to provide a fold away outside table and chairs for guests in the future. Best wishes, Carroll x

Why can't I call Carroll (the owner) before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Carroll (the owner) a message.

If Carroll (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
