This beautifully renovated house offers comfort and luxury in equal measure. There are two wood burners for those cooler evenings and a stunning, mature garden for those warm evenings just to sit in and enjoy the surrounding countryside. Abbey Farm has a large garden with private parking. The garden is fenced all round. The ponds in the grounds which are typical of a 15th century house are fenced for safety . The large garden includes areas of lawn, shrub borders, trees and a playhouse for children. There are several seating areas and a large table which easily accommodates 10, a fire pit and BBQ are there for you to enjoy.
Located in countryside between The Suffolk Town of Eye and the Norfolk Town of Diss with a circular walk from the door step guests can enjoy all that Suffolk and Norfolk has to offer, as you are located right on the border. The Suffolk Heritage Coast is only 25 miles away, where you can visit Southwold with its famous pier, Aldeburgh for its abundance of great food and restaurants, and Lowestoft, the most easterly point in the UK.
Bressingham Steam Museum, Oasis Camel Centre, Banham Zoo and Framlingham Castle are all a short drive away.
If a drive isn’t in your plans, you can put on your boots and explore the many walks and cycle trails in the surrounding area. There is a secure shed for your bikes. A particular favourite is the 12 miles of footpaths through The Thornham Estate, an ancient parkland, with woodland and farmland, as well as a Victorian walled garden. A perfect location for walkers, cyclists (secure shed for bikes on site) or anyone with an interest in history or wildlife . Abbey Farm is on the Suffolk Norfolk border in an area rich in historic treasure and wildlife sanctuaries including Redgrave and Lopham Fen a wild watery landscape of sedge, rush, heath and hundreds of pools created over many centuries by local people as they eked out a living, digging peat for fuel and cutting reed and sedge for thatching.
Eating out: Diss has an excellent selection of eateries, from tea shops to restaurants. There is a vegetarian restaurant, Chinese, Indian and the superb Weavers Wine Bar. There are several eateries in Eye including tea shops and the Queen's Head, there is also a good fish and chip shop for take away. Nearer to Abbey Farm you have the beautiful Oaksmere Hotel with a lovely restaurant and public bar, serving bark food and snacks and cocktail bar. The Oaksmere is a very popular wedding venue. Diss Golf Club is approximately 3 miles away.
