Gorgeously romantic detached annex with stunning views across an area of outstanding natural beauty. Generously proportioned studio room with French doors to large private balcony with large tree growing through it. Spiral staircase to downstairs kitchenette and shower room. Shared access to the owner's beautiful garden with shared hot tub spa which backs onto open fields. Self-catering.
It's on a tiny little lane with trees meeting over the road in places. There are lots of public footpaths including one that goes through next door's land and down through fields to the woods.
It's an ideal retreat or lovenest - a wonderful space for getting away from it all and right into the countryside; to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature; to heal, create or to study. It's very much a cosy country property rather than a stylish hotel setting but it's nicely and very comfortably furnished in rustic style. Horses clop along the lane outside and birdsong fills the air. There is a farmer along the lane who has equipment in use and large vehicles during the week sometimes so it's more reliably peaceful at weekends. The owner is a music teacher who lives in the main house with one child. Should you require a bottle of chilled champagne on arrival this can be arranged with the owner.
Treetops has undergone major renovations recently, including a new private balcony made of local Sussex oak by local craftsmen in the traditional Sussex style. A massive beech tree grows up through the balcony which can be lit up at night and during the day you can see between the branches for miles. The bathroom now has a double shower, a new suite and a heated towel rail. In the kitchen it has new quarry tiles on the floor, and new pictures, coat hooks, curtains, microwave, full-sized oven and glass hob and there's a washing machine and a dishwasher, which will hopefully make guests feel properly off-duty and relaxed!
Upstairs is a generous studio room with new carpet, curtains, rug, cushions, mattress, pillows, duvet, linen, blackout blinds, a power socket with USB points, a little dressing table with a mirror and hairdryer and a more romantic light above the bed. There's a table and chairs for dining/working looking out across the countryside and there are two large and comfortable leather sofas arranged around the view and the new 32" Smart TV. There's a selection of board games and a basket of information about the local area including local menus and walks and attractions.
Treetops is a fully self-contained apartment and it's treehouse balcony offers stunning views and absolute privacy. It's equipped with two recliners, a bistro set and an arbour seat. Guests also have shared access to large areas of the owner's garden.
There's a large shared patio area with two charcoal BBQ's and a firepit which you can cook on (food tastes completely different cooked over wood). All the furniture is at least 2m apart with the firepit in the middle. Charcoal is available to buy at the village petrol station - if you need wood for the firepit you can either bring your own (little dry bits) or buy it from me at cost price (£5 a bucket). If you need it set up I'll do it for love but give me a few hours' notice :) By day you can see all the way to Ninfield, Battle and Heathfield - on a clear night it's a feast of stars because we have no street lights - Patrick Moore used to visit the village for our dark skies.
The hot tub spa is on a deck in the middle of the garden overlooking the fields and hills beyond for miles. It really is blissful. It's available between 9am and midnight for half hour sessions at £10 a go. You can't go in at the same time as other guests and you have to use the sanitisation before and after - I show everyone how when they arrive. It's nearly always available but if there's a storm you can't go in or if you're wearing fake tan (you lose your tan and I can never get rid of it). If the water needs changing I don't hesitate but it only affects one day.
There are two recently built luxury Shepherd Huts for couples in the far end of the garden who also share the garden. We encourage guest to feel welcome in the shared spaces and avoid going very near each others' front doors, none of which overlook each other.
We have a dog and a cat who are very friendly but not allowed in Treetops because of people with allergies. Because we have our own pets we can't have anyone else's here and it wouldn't be fair to people with allergies so please don't book and then ask if you can bring your pet, no matter how well-behaved. Also if one of your party is afraid of animals please don't book as it's not practical to keep the dog in all day.
Although smoking is not allowed inside, it is permitted on the balcony.
