From the owner

Battisborough House is a fabulous Victorian detached house set in it's own grounds with spectacular sea views. This beautiful property is the perfect place for extended families or large groups to enjoy a get together and take advantage of this most delightful hidden piece of South Devon.

Built in 1898 as a large country home it was converted to a school in the 1950's. It still retains much of the original charm although it has undergone extensive refurbishment. The house is set over 3 floors and offers plenty of space to spread out and relax.

The house can cater for 2 separate types of groups: both catered and self catering. School groups of up to 60 or Family/friends up to 24.

The ground floor has a large galleried hall which has sofa and armchairs, piano, table tennis, TV and DVD. There is a large comfy dual aspect lounge with fabulous sea views which has plenty of seating and small library.

A small study is off the hall which also has seating, table and chairs and open fireplace.

The large dining room/refectory has 5 large pine tables and benches. The kitchen is fully equipped with more than you will need for a full house party. There is a large AGA with adjoining 5 ring gas hob; industrial dishwasher; American style fridge/freezer; 3 sinks and ample cupboard space with crockery and cutlery for the largest of groups. There is a separate larder/freezer room with a chest freezer, industrial upright freezer, double fronted industrial fridge, together with a vegetable preparation sink and ample dry store shelving. There is also a small Laundry comprising of washing machine, tumble dryer and drying rack, hoover and cleaning products. Also on the ground floor is a shower room comprising of 3 showers and 3 toilets; a boot room (or dog bedroom!) and a cloakroom.

On the first floorthere are two twin/double rooms, two ensuite double bedrooms, two ensuite family rooms comprising of double bed and two singles and three dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. There is also a separate shower room with 3 cubicle showers and 2 toilets. There are a further 3 bathrooms all with baths and toilets and a further separate wc.

The top floor comprises many more bunk beds and bathrooms but is only available for school groups.

Battisborough House is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between Mothecombe and Noss Mayo (4miles). Located at the end of a private lane this stunning property is set in 6 acres of land which comprises of lawn and woodland. There is a private tennis court and direct access on to the South West Coastal path which takes you down on to the beautiful Mothecombe Beach. The house is surrounded by private parkland estate . There are stunning, uninterrupted views out across the ocean, from most of the bedrooms and all the public rooms.

A perfect place for a holiday for cousins.

Perfect location within walking distance of quiet coves. Perfect for large family meals - a huge Aga and dining room. The tennis court with the most perfect view in the world.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

If Patsy (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
