Region: Picturesque rolling Fens, unspoilt beaches, and pretty waterways - East Anglia is a dream holiday destination. Norfolk offers beaches, saltmarshes and quaint villages whilst equally as charming are the coast and countryside of Suffolk.
Town: Many of the homes in Snettisham, a typical Norfolk village, are constructed from the local iron-rich carr stone, giving them an appealing golden-brown hue. Because of this the structures' alternative name is "gingerbread houses." The village has a few convenience stores, a Post Office, two hotels, a cafe, and a bus stop with regular service to the neighbouring towns of King's Lynn, a historic city, and Hunstanton, a popular coastal resort with families. The church of St. Mary, perched alone atop the hill, is well worth visiting for its gorgeous tracery flowers that adorn the west window. The beach is only three miles distant, and the ancient Peddars Way public footpath passes through the neighbourhood. Park Farm is a working farm on the outskirts of the village that hosts a variety of family-friendly events all year long, such as a 45-minute "deer safari" and the opportunity to feed the animals. Norfolk Lavender, England's premier lavender farm, is conveniently located close by, as are the Royal Estate of Sandringham's open house, gardens, and church.
